It was such a great opportunity for me to be at Mashup Camp 2 and meet in person with fantastic people such as Marc Mezzacca of Next Generation Shopping and Secret Prices, Eric Keosky-Smith of Incendio Marketing, Bryan Monroe of eventful, Jeff Bar of Amazon Web Services, Christine Herron of Omidyar Network (here's her blog), Alen Lewis of eBay, and David Berlind of ZDNet Blogs. I also briefly met with John Musser of Programmable Web, but had to catch a flight and didn't have a chance to sit down with him and learn more about his point of view on Mashups.
There was a lot of interesting things going on, and the level of energy and passion was unmatched. I will write more about the event as time allows.
It's great to see that people have picked up the idea of Frucall. Typical reaction is that people are usually amazed with the simplicity of the concept and how nicely all of the complex software is hidden behind a simple, intuitive voice interface.
Some people try different aspects of the service and come up with questions and suggestions, which I truly love to hear, and I try to be responsive to and address individually. The detailed Frucall Review on TADPOST is one.
We also got covered by GigaOm, Om Malik's popular blog, as well as Mashable, a well respected Web 2.0/Mashup blog. Somebody said the service is Fru-Cool and another person said How did we ever manage without it? - all in all, very positive response, and thanks a lot to everybody for their support!
Ellen Moore has written a detailed review on Frucall, and I'm very pleased to see that she has tried different aspect of the service. Ellen, thank you and yes, we definitely have the merchant ratings on our roadmap, along with purchasing from the cell phone. We have also been through iterations with our automated voice system (TTS - Text To Speech) and we are working on ways to improve that. Thank you very much for trying Frucall, and we are glad to see that you have found it interesting enough to write a full article about it. Any suggestions/feedback - definitely let us know. We want to hear from you :-)
